    Steve Zemelman is a Founder of the Illinois Writing Project, based at Northeastern Illinois University.

    He is co-author, with Tonya Perry and Katy Smith, of "Teaching for Racial Equity: Becoming Interrupters (from Stenhouse/Routledge), and numerous books widely used by teachers across the United States. He has helped create innovative schools, provided training in restorative justice, and recently is a partner with the EverydayAdvocacy.org committee, working to help educators resist censorship and the banning of books in schools.
