Born as Jey Jenkins on October 12, 1977, in Columbia, South Carolina, he soon moved to Hawkinsville, Georgia, and grew up in Macon, Georgia. Currently, Jeezy resides in Atlanta, Georgia. He entered the hip-hop world in 2001 and was a member of the group Boyz N Da Hood, consisting of four individuals from Atlanta, including Lee "Big Duke" Dixon, Miguel "Big Gee" Scott, Jacoby "Jody Breeze" White, and Jay "Young Jeezy" Jenkins.

The group released their debut album on 's Bad Boy label in 2005.
